site-maphandbook

The Los Angeles Times reports that a former Lynwood high school principal, accused of sexually molesting three female students at the school, was arrested at LAX airport upon his return from the Philippines and now faces 17 counts of child molestation related charges.

Jonas Silverio, 40, resigned from his position as principal at Lynwood’s Firebaugh High School back in May and fled to the Philippines after authorities Los Angeles County Sheriff’s investigators began investigating child molestation allegations against him. Specifically, Silverio is accused of sexually molesting at least two girls on Firebaugh High School’s volleyball team for which he was also the coach.

The alleged child molestation incidents against former principal Silverio occurred back in 2001 and 2005 but investigators have expanded their investigation as far back as 1996 after they learned of another potential victim in the Whittier area

The former Lynwood principal was taken into custody at LAX airport on Wednesday, July 8, upon his return from the Philippines unaware that a warrant had been issued for his arrest. Jonas Silverio has been formally charged with 17 counts of committing a lewd act upon a child and remains in custody on $1 million bail.
