Husband Arrested for Wife’s Murder On Cruise Ship

The KTLA reports that a husband has been arrested on suspicion of murdering his wife while the couple was on a cruise ship in Mexico after a fight broke out between the husband and wife while in their cabin resulting in the woman’s death.

Robert McGill was arrested for murder and handed over to the FBI after being detained by crew members aboard the Carnival Cruise Ship Elation after McGIll’s wife, Shirley McGill, 55, was found dead in the couple’s cabin on Tuesday night.

According to a statement from Carnival Cruise Lines, the husband and wife got into a dispute in their cabin on the cruise ship elation and she was killed. Crew members detained McGill and held him in the ship’s brig until they handed him over to the FBI.

Preliminary reports indicated that McGill stabbed his wife with a pair of scissors. FBI Special Agent in Charge Keith Slotter said “I can’t confirm or deny that there was a stabbing. We have suspicions at this time as to how it was conducted, but until that autopsy and so on is done, I can’t comment on those suspicions and exactly how it may have occurred. There is still quite a bit of work to do.”

Agent Slotter furtherĀ  stated that the husband McGill is expected to be charged with murder in the death of his wife.
