Man Convicted In Stabbing Murder of USC Student

by Gabriel Dorman on September 1, 2009

Los Angeles CBS news reports that a man was convicted of murder today in the 2008 stabbing death of a USC student. The jury also found true a special allegation that the man used a knife to stab and commit the murder which all started as a result of the USC student slamming a gate.

Travion T. Ford

Travion Tarrett Ford, 25, faces a sentence of 16-years-to-life in prison for the second degree murder of USC student, Bryan Frost, a cinema student.

According to Deputy District Attorney Kennes Ma, Ford confronted Frost after the USC student slammed an apartment building gate. A physical confrontation ensued when Ford punched Frost. Frost was able to pin Ford to the ground before releasing him.

Ford ran into the apartment complex only to return about 45 to 60 seconds later to confront Frost for a second time. It was at this time that Ford stabbed the USC student before fleeing the scene in a car with his girlfriend.

As Frost was walking away from the scene, he told his friends he thought he had been stabbed. His friends called 911 and got the license plate of Ford’s car.

Fords’ criminal defense lawyer unsuccessfully argued that this was not murder as her client stabbed the USC student in self defense.

Ford is scheduled to be sentenced for the stabbing murder of USC student Bryan Frost on October 29.
