KTLA is reporting that a Laguna Hills woman, who wanted to be on the Bravo TV hit reality series “The Real Housewives of Orange County,” has been arrested in one of the biggest insurance fraud scams in California history.
Devon Lynn Kile, 44, and her husband, Michael Vincent Petronella, 50 were arrested at their Laguna Hills mansion Wednesday in a $38 million fraud scheme that involved roofing companies the couple owned in Costa Mesa and Cathedral City.
According to Orange County District Attorney Tony Rackauckus, the couple is alleged to have skipped out on paying workers’ compensation payments by under-reporting the number of employees working for the companies and by further discouraging their workers from filing claims.
The 106 felony count complaint includes charges of insurance fraud, grand theft and filing false tax returns.
Among the items seized from the couple’s home in Laguna Hills included $500,000 in jewels, Rolex watches, Gucci, Chanel, Burberry and other luxury-brand handbags and shoes. Let’s not forget to mention the two Ferraris, Bentley and a Range Rover also seized.
However, the crown jewel, found by investigators during the search, was a copy of Kile’s application to be a cast member on “The Real Housewives of Orange County” television show.
She had the riches but she really wanted the fame. When is it ever enough?
Kile and Petronella are each being held on $10 million bail. Their arraignment is set for Friday.
