The Orange County Register reports that an inmate at the Santa Ana City Jail commit suicide by jumping to his death. The inmate died from his injuries after jumping from a second-level tier inside the Santa Ana City Jail.
The 48-year-old Santa Ana City Jail inmate was being held at the facility since September 22 after being arrested by the FBI on robbery charges. On Sunday, at approximately 3 pm, the inmate jumped onto a floor from the second-level tier. The inmate, whose name is not being released at this time, was taken to the hospital where he eventually pronounced dead. Further details regarding the inmate’s suicide have not been released as of yet.
Sunday’s inmate suicide is the second one at the Santa Ana City Jail. The first Santa Ana City Jail suicide occurred in 2004.
