The Los Angeles Times reports that the second suspect has been arrested in the hit and run crash that resulted in the death of USC student Adrianna Bachan and left Marcus Garfinkle seriously injured.
Josue Luna, 32, was arrested as he attempted to cross back into the U.S. from Mexico and booked as an accessory to the crime. Luna was a passenger in the 2000 Infinite driven by his wife, Claudia Cabrera, 30, when she blew through a red light at the intersection of Jefferson and Hoover near the USC campus on March 29, killing Adrianna Bachan, 18, and seriously injuring Marcus Garfinkle, 19.
Border Patrol agents contacted the Los Angeles Police Department after a routine computer check, conducted while he was crossing the border at San Ysidro, revealed that Luna was a wanted man. The LAPD Fugitive Unit arrived and took Luna into custody and booked him into Los Angeles County jail. Luna was released after posting $50,000 bail.
Investigators allege that Garfinkle was carried some 300 to 400 feet on the windshield before the car came to a stop. This is when, Luna, allegedly got out of the car and threw Garfinkle’s body off the windshield, then got back into the vehicle and held the windshield in place as Cabrera sped away and fled the scene.
Garfinkle, who remains hospitalized, suffered numerous serious injuries including two broken legs.
FYI: Claudia Cabrera 30, has pleaded not guilty to vehicular manslaughter and hit-and-run and remains in jail on $1-million bail.
