Orange County DUI patrols on Superbowl Sunday were a success this year as over 40 drivers were arrested for DUI. A total of 42 DUI arrests were made on Superbowl Sunday by a multi-agency Orange County DUI task force known as the “Avoid the 38.”
The Orange County Sheriff’s Department, the California Highway Patrol and local police agencies stepped up their anti-DUI efforts on Superbowl Sunday conducted roving DUI patrols throughout the county.
The Orange County Superbowl Sunday roving DUI patrols is another example of California’s commitment to increased DUI enforcement in the year 2010. As a matter of fact, the state has declared this year to be the “Year of the DUI Checkpoint.” Funding for the Orange County Superbowl Sunday DUI patrols was provided by the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
