Los Angeles DUI Driver Hits Police Car

A suspected Los Angeles DUI driver was arrested after crashing his van into an police patrol car on Friday. The suspected South Los Angeles DUI driver was also arrested for hit-and-run after immediately fleeing the scene after the crash.

Just before midnight, the CHP received a report that a possible DUI driver had crashed his vehicle into a Los Angeles Police patrol car at South Vermont Avenue and West Imperial Highway. Aside from one of the officers went to the hospital to checked out, all occupants inside the police vehicle were reportedly not seriously injured.

The suspected Los Angeles DUI and hit-and-run driver was located and arrested approximately one hour later. The white van was located about two blocks east at South Hoover and 113th streets and, according to a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s sergeant, there was damage to the van tying it to the DUI hit and run.

Upon arrest, officers believed the driver was intoxicated and initiated a DUI investigation, including having him perform a series of field sobriety tests. In the end, the driver was arrested for DUI and hit and run for crashing into the Los Angeles patrol vehicle.
