DUI Hit and Run Driver Hits 3 Cyclists, Kills 1

The Los Angeles Times reports that a Canyon Country DUI driver has been arrested for murder after a hit and run crash in which he ran into three cyclists resulting in the death of one of them.

Marco Valencia, 30, was charged with murder, hit and run and DUI stemming from an incident in which he was driving under the influence in his pickup truck when he crashed into three cyclists in the Angeles National Forest killing Joseph Novotny, 43, was was riding with the Santa Clarita Velo club. The two other cyclists suffered serious injuries as a result of the DUI related accident and were transported to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital.

Valencia fled the scene (hit and run) but was arrested about 90 minutes after the DUI crash. He was booked in the Los Angeles County Jail where he is being held in lieu of $1.1 million bail.
