The Orange County Register reports that the injured driver of the red truck that ran a red light as he tried to flee from the police causing a fatal crash in Anaheim is in custody on suspicion of felony manslaughter, felony DUI and felony evading and battery.

Oscar Javier De La Torre Villalobos, 22, tried to drive away from police as they were called to the parking lot of a Home Depot to investigate an assault and battery complaint. About a minute into the chase, Villalobos blew through a red light at the corner of Crescent and Magnolia avenues, colliding with a Toyota Camry and a gray Toyota truck that were traveling north on Magnolia.

The impact sent the red truck into a palm tree and the two other vehicles were thrown into the north side of an apartment complex. Orlando Botello, 49, of Chino Hills, was driving the gray truck and died as a result of his injuries. The driver of the Camry is in critical condition.

As for Villalobos, 22, he is in serious condition at UCI Medical Center in Orange. Once he has recovered, he will be taken to jail to answer to the charges, if filed.
