Three Arrested at Fontana DUI Checkpoint

Three drivers were arrested at a Fontana DUI checkpoint on January 14, 2010. Of the three drivers arrested during the Fontana DUI checkpoint, only one was arrested for DUI.

The Fontana DUI checkpoint was set up and operated by the Fontana Police Department in the Southridge area of Fontana on Cherry Avenue just south of Live Oak Avenue. The Fontana DUI checkpoint ran from 7 p.m. to 2:30 a.m.

A total of 698 vehicles passed through the Fontana DUI checkpoint of which 40 were stopped. In all, three drivers were arrested (on for DUI, one for resisting arrest and one for an outstanding warrant), eight vehicles were impounded for various traffic violations including driving without a driver’s license. A total of 15 citations were also issued for a number of traffic violations.

The Fontana DUI checkpoint was funded by a grant by the Office of Traffic Safety by way of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
