A mysterious screaming woman led Arcadia police to discover a small indoor marijuana cultivation operation earlier this week. While the screaming woman was never located, the two men living at the residence were arrested on suspicion of marijuana cultivation.
The discovery of the Arcadia marijuana cultivation operation all started on Wednesday afternoon when police received a call regarding a screaming woman at a house in the 300 block of San Miguel Drive in Arcadia. When police arrived to investigate, they were met by Christopher Yip, 27, and Kristal Koch, 26, denied hearing a screaming woman.
During a brief search of the home to see if anyone was hurt or injured, police observed what they believed to be a small marijuana cultivation operation. What specifically was observed by the officers has not been reported.
Based upon their observation, Arcadia detectives obtained a search warrant for the home. A subsequent search pursuant to the warrant turned up 15 marijuana plants. No evidence was found indicating that Yip of Koch has a physician’s recommendation to use or grow marijuana.
Arcadia police Sgt. Tom Le Veque said the Arcadia marijuana cultivation operation “was primarily in the garage, and then there were also a couple of plants found in the bedroom.”
Believing both individuals lived at the residence, Christopher Yip and Kristal Koch were arrested for cultivation of marijuana. Yip and Koch declined to answer any questions or make any statements. Yip is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail while Koch is being held on $20,000 bail.
