Felony Charges for San Diego Sheriff’s Deputy for Beating His Girlfriend!

The Los Angeles Times reports that a San Diego Sheriff’s deputy has been charged with five felonies and one misdemeanor count for allegedly beating his girlfriend following a party at his home in San Ysidro.

Deputy Leanno Martinez, 32, was arrested on April 4 and charged with assault with intent to inflict great bodily harm, assault inflicting injury, false imprisonment, making a criminal threat and battery. He appeared in San Diego Superior Court and entered a plea of not guilty. The case was set for a readiness conference on May 12 and a preliminary hearing on June 4.

Deputy Martinez, who had been assigned to Imperial Beach station, was released on bail on Tuesday.
