The Orange Count Register reports that Stephen Leece, the son of Costa Mesa’s Mayor Pro-Tem Wendy Leece, on suspicion of felony domestic violence.
Leece was arrested early Wednesday morning after an altercation with his girlfriend. According to Costa Mesa Police Department Sgt. Joyce LaPointe, an argument started after Leece’s girlfriend returned home after a night out drinking with some girlfriends. Leece, who was upset about her being out, started a verbal argument which eventually turned physical when Leece flipped over a kitchen table, grabbed the woman by the arms as she tried to leave and pushed the woman’s 9-year-old son out of the way when he tried to intervene.
Leece fled the scene when the woman threatened to contact the police. He was contacted by detectives later that day and arrested after providing his version of events.
Leece was booked on suspicion of causing corporal injury to a cohabitant and is being held on $50,000 bail.
