The Orange County DUI Lawyers tip ‘o the day has to do with AA meetings and why and under what circumstances you should attend them if you have been arrested for an Orange County DUI. The answer …because is it something that can never hurt and only help you and, in certain situations, your freedom may depend on it!
Most Orange County DUI Lawyers will (or should) tell you that attending AA meetings while your case is being litigated could be the difference between you remaining free or having to post bail to get out of jail. The following is a general list of instances in where attending AA meetings would be advisable and/or ordered by the court:
- Any DUI in which there is an allegation of an excessively high blood alcohol concentration (BAC);
- A second and/or subsequent DUIs;
- Any DUI while still on probation for a prior DUI;
- Most under 21 years of age DUIs.
Orange County DUI Lawyers know that courts are concerned about public safety and will always fail on the side of caution. As such, depending on the circumstances involved, is is not uncommon for the court to order someone to attend anywhere from two to five AA meetings per week while their case is pending. My advise, consult with your attorney and start them on your own. Taking action always looks good and demonstrates that your are being responsible in addressing the issues that brought you before the court. Failure to contact the DMV and request your hearing within the 10 days will result in your license being automatically suspended 30 days after the date of your arrest. (All of this information is contained in the pink piece of paper that is provided upon your release form jail entitled “Age 21 and Older Administrative Per Se Suspension/Revocation Order and Temporary Driver License”.
So, to request your DMV Hearing you should do the following:
- Mark a date on your calendar 10 days out from the date of your DUI arrest so you know when your deadline;
- Call the DMV at the number provided on the form or the call the DMV – Irvine Driver Safety Office (if your DUI arrest is in another county you can call the driver’s safety office location for that county).
- Request an “in person” hearing and make a note of the date and time for the hearing. Also, make a note as to who you spoke with at the DMV and further ask if you can send them email or fax confirmation of your hearing date.)
- Finally, make sure you advise your Orange County DUI Lawyers of your hearing date.
