Gary Allen Lintz plead no contest to arson and admitted to special allegations of inflicting great bodily injury to a firefighter and having a prior arson conviction. Lintz was actually charged with setting four fires on July 27, Aug. 4, Aug. 16 and Aug. 23 in the park. His plea was to the Aug. 16 fire and, as a plea agreement, the other counts were dismissed.

Lintz was arrested August 23, 2008 after he was observed by hikers near Griffith Park Drive shortly after a slow moving brush fire started to spread in the area. At the time of his arrest, Lintz was on probation for a 2007 arson conviction.
